The Vaccine Dilemma

This past Friday we had to take Peyton to his one year checkup.  In addition to them informing us that he is extremely tall for his age, they told us that it was time for another round of injections!   I don’t like when any of my kiddos have to get shots.  A considerable amount of other parents really have a problem with injections and their supposed link to several different impairments or disabilities.  I really don’t know what to think of all of the different studies and claims that are floating around about this subject.

Worse thing is all of the after effects of what these injections do to their poor little bodies.  Fever, headaches, all around flu like symptoms?!   Don’t you think it might be better to chance some of these diseases rather than dealing with the strange and nasty side effects sometimes?  I know many of you feel strongly about this and some don’t. Feel free to leave some feedback on how you feel.  I think also I will be talking to a special guest on the next podcast about this very subject!

I am torn on this too. I mean my kids are both up to date on their vaccines because I am the kind of person to blindly follow my Dr. because I want to believe they looking our for the best interest of my children. I hear people all the time talk about how certain vaccines can lead to autism and such, but think about all the kids who are vaccinated and don’t have autism. I think the odds are more in your favor then not…kwim? But who knows. The only shot I don’t give my kids are the flu vaccines. I mean it only protects 1 strain and there are tons out there. So why give them a shot when they could very well get it anyways. They haven’t gotten the flu yet so I am happy with my decision there.
