The Jawbone ICON Review and Giveaway

Dad’s like to stay connected. I talk with my family throughout the workday every day. I am fortunate to have a job that I can talk with anyone at anytime but, I am constantly on the move. That’s why I am so glad to have been hooked up with a Jawbone ICON.

Users can listen to podcasts or music while running errands throughout the day. They can receive turn-by-turn driving directions whispered into their ear while navigating the streets with both eyes on the road and both hands on the wheel. Users can even discreetly listen to the live play-by-play of a big sporting event while working at a desk. The addition of streaming audio allows Jawbone ICON users to be more productive and connected, all while remaining hands-free and discreet.

Jawbone ICON is the world’s most intelligent Bluetooth headset. With the best noise elimination on the market, Jawbone ICON also provides the first and only integrated application platform. Users can go to mytalk.jawbone.com to explore the all-new Jawbone MyTALK and to download apps that allow them to use their voice to send text messages, check their email, and tweet— all from their Jawbone ICON.

One of the sweetest things that reeled me in to liking the ICON is that Jawbone is the inventor of NoiseAssassin, the world’s first and only military-grade noise-eliminating technology.  My wife constantly would tell me to “get to a quieter place” or “call me back at a place where I can hear you!”  NoiseAssassin has saved my marriage.

Originally developed for use in tanks and helicopters, Jawbone ICON’s  NoiseAssassin is a proprietary technology that eliminates background noise from mobile phone conversations. Jawbone is the only Bluetooth headset with a Voice Activity Sensor (VAS) that actually feels your speech, which helps Jawbone distinguish your voice from background noise. As a result, Jawbone offers better audio quality than any other headset on the market.

Ryan’s Rating: 9 out of 10!!

Pros:  Sleek, small yet stays put in my ear, and I can actually hear out of it and be heard too!

Cons: More accessories like another earbud to make it true stereo or a separate small case to store on a belt clip.

I’d honestly be using my extra hand to probably make me life a tiny bit more complicated than it surely needs to be 😀 I find myself multi-tasking enough already while I talk on the phone, so with this, I’d actually be cooking a lot more efficiently without having to have my head cocked the whole time, to hold up the phone 😀

My husband drives a lot for work and because of all the background noise in the truck, I can NEVER understand him! This would make me less annoyed when speaking to him on the phone!

    53
      shel on June 23rd, 2010 7:22 pm

My husband drives a bread truck for a living and company policy prohibits the use of a cell phone unless it is hands-free…some of the cities he drives in also have cell-phone laws. This would leave him with 2 free hands and still be able to talk to me during the day instead of waiting until he could pull the truck over.

One of my biggest pet peeves with phone calls, is when there is so much background noise you can’t even hear the person talking. My family creates a lot of background noise! After watching the video, this feature alone would make my life so much easier! Plus, I currently have no hands free devices for my phone, so for safety while driving it would be nice to have that as well. And my husband uses the cell phone a lot to talk to me from the store (I hate shopping, I know!, *gasp*) so this would help him be hands free to compare products to help him while calling for a decision! I think we have all been there!

I’m right handed. Or at least I used to be… ever since I had a son, I don’t think I’ve been able to use my right hand for anything but carrying him, his stuff, or stopping him from falling or playing with something he’s not supposed to. I’ve gotten pretty good at typing, writing, dialing, etc using my left… I wonder if that makes me a forced ambidextrous person. Anyway, being able to use the phone without tying up a hand would be great… a luxury in fact 🙂

I occasionally drive in the city of Chicago which doesn’t allow handset usage when driving. This would be much better to use than my weak speakerphone in my cell.

This would make the weekly drive to my sister’s house and back a lot easier.

I need one of these to free my hands when receiving calls while at my computer. I can still type on the keypad with both hands while chatting

It would make my life easier by making my husband handsfree. I like to talk to him on his way home from work. He gets out really late and I know he’s tired. I like to keep him company and of course I need to keep him safe but using handsfree. He has yet to find a bluetooth headset he likes.

Thanks for the giveaway… a Jawbone ICON would vastly improve my ability to take calls when I am traveling, and it can only improve my ability to take & type notes while speaking on the phone !
