Good TV Can Come in Small Packages?
Things are really tight these days. I still get paid the same but it seems like everything else is going up. We have cut back a little bit here and there. The fans are on more and the a/c is turned up to a higher degree. We started eating out less and eating more food that is prepared at home. In the tech/geek department there have been no new video game purchases lately and we went down to streaming only on Netflix just to save a couple of bucks on getting a disc in the mail.
The next big decision we have to make is what to do about the way we watch TV and who brings us the channels that we watch so much. We thought about just totally going with something like Hulu from the Xbox, a Roku Box, or AppleTV. Sometimes though we like to tune in to channels that you can’t normally watch on those devices. We currently are spending waaaayyyy too much for DIRECTV as our bill is a little over $80! That is just like the basic 200 channels and no movie or sports packages. When shopping around and comparing dish packages I found out that I can cut that price in half and get even more than I was getting before.
We have been wronged in the past by our current satellite provider and hope that Crystal will give me the “OK” to rip them a new one and move on over to something like Infinity Dish where I could get a whole lot more for a whole lot less. Hopefully a decade down the road the situation will be totally different with a whole new way of getting the media we love. Remember…not too long ago a ton of people still had “rabbit ears”.
Let me know what is working for you and your household!

The Muppets Sneak Peek
Who doesn’t like the Muppets? Here is a little bit of info coming up on the new movie coming up this fall.
On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate. With secret, signature, celebrity cameos, “The Muppets” hits the big screen Nov. 23, 2011.
Real Steel Trailer
HOLY CRAP! I want to see this movie so bad. Too bad I have to wait till the fall. Real Steel is an action drama about a former boxer (Hugh Jackman) who, against all odds, gets one last shot at a comeback when he teams up with his estranged son (Dakota Goyo) to build and train the perfect contender for the new high-tech sport of robot boxing. This movie comes out on October 7th, 2011 from DreamWorks pictures.
Doctor Office Gripes
Right now I don’t have a regular doctor. The doctor that I did have had a potty mouth that would make most rappers cringe and she always teased me about probing me for every single thing that I had wrong with me. Don’t ask…it was just weird. So I have been talking to Crystal about looking for a new family practitioner and she agrees that we need to look for someone who doesn’t seem so creepy.
One of the things that I hate about starting up with a new doctor is all of the freakin’ paper work that you have to do when you first start off going to a new doc. I mean, I know that they have to have all of the information about family history, food and drug allergies, past operations, and if your previous doc probed you for whatever. I just wish they would find an online form builder and let you input all of your info about all of those details and have it in their system already for when you arrive to their frosted sliding window.
Another thing is I do not like having to repeat over an over everything that is wrong with me. You make an appointment and tell them what is wrong. You get there and then remind them why you are there. Then you have to tell the nurse and then the doctor. You would think that with all of the tech out there that they could jump on an online form creator and make a page that you can fill out at home or even with a smart-phone in the waiting room so you don’t have to repeat what is plaguing you a dozen times to a dozen people. I think I should change my career to being a doctor procedure helper-outer guy from now on.

Halloween “Do’s” with Fantastic Sam’s
The great peeps over at Fantastic Sam’s have answered a couple of questions regarding Halloween Hair-do’s along with some general tips to totally add the finishing touch to your rockin’ costume. Fantastic Sams’ Pam Kelly, National Director of Technical Services, put together the following “hair raising” tricks and tips.
HALLOWEEN HAIR TIPS
The hair you wear with your Halloween costume can make or break the look! Here are a few tips and tricks to complete your look.
- To add color to your Halloween hair, make it a temporary color so you can easily remove it after the party’s over. Colored hairsprays and temporary colored hair gels are the easiest to remove. Simply brush out the hairstyle and shampoo with fantasticcleanse clarifying shampoo and follow with fantasticcondition moisturizing conditioner. If your hair is porous, you may need to shampoo two or three times!
- Get crazy with a crimping iron to add wild texture to your hair. This is a great look for the vampire craze that will definitely been seen at parties and in the streets during Halloween night. Just remember to use fantasticstyle thermal guard to protect your hair from the heat of the iron.
- Many Halloween hair styles require back combing the hair to achieve new heights. Spray the hair after backcombing with fantastic finish finishing spray to keep it where you want it. When you are ready to remove the backcombing, a brush with plastic bristles will be more gentle on the hair. Start at the ends and work your way to the base of the backcombing to remove.
- To create spikes in your hair, apply fantastic style styling cement on wet hair and then blow dry into place by brushing and directing the hair upward. This styling cement will defy gravity!
I hope this helps you out on trying to figure out a style to go with your look. Feel free to leave a comment for me telling what your craziest hairstyle has been for Halloween.
