Opposite Day Giveaway (Closed)

Opposite Day is a hilarious new comedy that puts the kids in charge and the adults in the place. Nine year old Sammy and his eight year old sister Carla go on vacation with their grandparents when their overworked parents are unable to take them. On the first night of their mountain vacation, Sammy makes a childlike wish, ‘I wish kids ruled the world.’ Little did he know what was about to happen! Little did he know what was about to happen!

Back in town Sammys friend Chas is being used as part of his father’s ambitious experiment to decode the language of babies, but the experiment goes wildly wrong. When the machine being used explodes, a thrust of energy and elements are released into the town and the personalities of kids and adults reverse, resulting in a town run by kid cops, kid fireman, kid judges, kid lawyers, etc.

Sammy, Carla, and their grandparents return from their vacation to find the world is a much different and chaotic place. Sammy is determined to try to enjoy and take advantaged of the situation for as long as possible while Carla is worried and cautious from the start. Together they discover that being responsible “adults” isn’t as fun as they had imagined. Pitted against their old friend Chas who wants to turn this freak accident into a permanent global phenomenon, the siblings have to learn to trust each other, and to learn that all the rules of growing up are there to help you grow up right.

SALONPAS Pain Relieving Patches (Closed)

The Holidays. What does that mean for you? I don’t mean traditions or things that you do with your family to ring in the season. I mean what brings the pain during this season? For me it’s trying to hurry up with my workday to try to get home earlier each day during this special time of year. For me it’s lugging bags and boxes out of stores to the car then from the car to strategic hiding places at home. For me it means stringing lights all throughout the yard and house. For me it’s not getting much sleep because of the excitement of Santa Claus.

Through all of these things the really take a toll on my body. I already have a fairly physical job and get sore quite frequently. I got a chance to try out SALONPAS pain relieving patches. SALONPAS pain relief and SALONPAS Arthritis are the only FDA-approved pain relieving patches available over-the-counter. Each soft, thin and stretchable patch contains anti-inflammatory medicine that provides relief of mild to moderate pain for up to 12 hours. And because you wear SALONPAS where it hurts (unlike oral medication), the active ingredients are absorbed through the skin and go directly to the pain site.

Uses

Temporarily relieves mild to moderate aches & pains of muscles & joints associated with:

  • strains
  • sprains
  • simple backache
  • arthritis
  • bruises

I have tried these several times on my lower and mid back and they really do work. I repeat…they really do work for hours and hours. I also like that when you apply them they don’t have a huge medicinal smell. I don’t like to smell like I have been rolling around in a vat of mint and cough drops. I actually put one of these on on my way to work and it worked all day and I took it off 10 hours later when I got home.

Giveaway

Five (5) winners will receive: A SALONPAS gift pack that includes 5 SAlONPAS Patches!

Toy Story 3 Review

Among all of the great trilogies in the world such as The Godfather, Lord of the Rings, and (the original) Star Wars trilogy I must now put my stamp on the Toy Story trilogy. Oh Mylanta…I loved this movie. I feel like I have gotten so close to these characters and the road that they have traveled over the years. If this is the last movie ever that Buzz and Woody ever grace then it would be a very fitting end for them. By the way…I did cry twice during this movie. Can we say the rootin’ist tootin’ist tear jerker of the year?

Toy Story 3 welcomes Woody (voice of Tom Hanks), Buzz (voice of Tim Allen) and the whole gang back as Andy prepares to depart for college and his loyal toys find themselves in… day care! These untamed tots with their sticky little fingers do not play nice, so it’s all for one and one for all as plans for the great escape get underway. More than a few new faces—some plastic, some plush—join the adventure, including iconic swinging bachelor and Barbie’s counterpart Ken (voice of Michael Keaton), a thespian hedgehog named Mr. Pricklepants (voice of Timothy Dalton) and a pink, strawberry-scented teddy bear called Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear (voice of Ned Beatty). Directed by Lee Unkrich (co-director of Toy Story 2 and Finding Nemo), produced by Pixar veteran Darla K. Anderson (Cars, Monsters, Inc.) and written by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine), Toy Story 3 is a comical new adventure!

I thought I would also include some fun print-and-play activities! Search the words, connect-the-dots, spot the differences, and color your favorite Toy Story 3 characters by clicking here.

  • Bonnie’s Playtime: A Story Roundtable – A roundtable discussion with Director Lee Unkrich and the story artists who brought the “Bonnie’s Playtime” scene to life.
  • Roundin’ Up A Western Opening – The development of the movie’s exciting opening scene.
  • Life Of A Shot – Toy Story 3 artists and technicians describe their contributions to a few of the shots in the film’s “Western Opening.”
  • Goodbye Andy – An exploration of character design, acting and animation in the scene “Andy’s Goodbye.”
  • Accidental Toymakers – By creating the Toy Story characters, the Pixar filmmakers found themselves in the unlikely role of toy designers. Meet the toy company that took a chance on manufacturing the now iconic toys and learn of their incredible success that began with a modest number of Woody and Buzz Lightyear toys 15 years ago.
  • Making of Day & Night – The story behind the unique 2D/3D blended short.

This movie really shows and exhibits very much of the same values that I try to instill in my children.  Trust, teamwork,  and even the strong sense of family.  These characters have adapted to all sorts of obstacles over the years and to finally see everyone on the same page and working as a family was very heart-warming.

Ryan’s Rating: 10 out of 10!!

Pros:   As most of Pixar movies are great for kids and adults alike..this one shines and please the whole family.

Cons:  Tissues for you snotting and crying during this movie are not included.

Walt Disney Pictures presents “Tangled,” one of the most hilarious, hair-raising tales ever told. Flynn’s curious captor, who’s looking for her ticket out of the tower where she’s been locked away for years, strikes a deal with the handsome thief and the unlikely duo sets off on an action-packed escapade, complete with a super-cop horse, an over-protective chameleon and a gruff gang of pub thugs. Greno, a 14-year Disney animation veteran, served as head of story on “Bolt,” and has animation and/or story credits on “Mulan,” “Brother Bear,” and “Meet the Robinsons.”
  • “Tangled” features new songs and a score by eight-time Oscar-winning composer/songwriter Alan Menken (“The Little Mermaid,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin,” “Pocahontas,” and, most recently, “Enchanted”). KLUTZ Book of Animation Review and Giveaway

When I think about some of my favorite stop motion films ever created I sit back and try to fathom the animators pure genius. I usually finish off this thought thinking there is no way that I could ever produce anything that even resembles the likes of The Nightmare Before Christmas, Classic Gumby, or any of the Rankin and Bass classics like Rudolph, The Little Drummer Boy, and Santa Claus. The People over at KLUTZ have tried to make me feel a little bit better about my short-comings in the art department with the The Klutz Book of Animation.

I am #12 in the Klutz Book of Animation Blog Tour and these guys have put all of this together to give you just a taste of how fun and easy it is. Anybody with a computer, camera, internet connection and a little bit of creativity can create animated films for the masses. The Klutz Book of Animation is a how-to-guide for this art form. Step-by-step instructions show you how to create a variety of different classic stop motion special effects. Watch the real videos we created here and then start making your own!

Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue

This will be another movie added to our collection that I absolutely love. I am not ashamed nor afraid to admit that I am totally intrigued with a little world that is all about Fairies. This marks the third movie that features Tink and her world. Before she was ever introduced to Wendy and the Lost Boys, Tinker Bell met Lizzy, a girl with a steadfast belief in fairies. Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue begins in summertime in the beautiful English countryside. An enchanting encounter unfolds when Tinker Bell is discovered by Lizzy, and as their different worlds unite, Tink develops a special bond with the curious girl in need of a friend.

As her fellow fairies launch a daring rescue, Tinker Bell takes a huge risk, putting her own safety and the future of the fairies in jeopardy. This action-packed adventure takes the fairies of Pixie Hollow on a daring flight to London to save Tinker Bell and all of fairy kind.

My kids loved this movie. Yes of course my daughter loved it. She loves anything that Disney puts out. I love the fact though that my two boys were stuck to the screen like it was taylor made for them. There are so many aspects of the movie that appeals to all age ranges.

Olive Garden’s Never Ending Pasta Bowl

Olive Garden’s Never Ending Pasta Bowl is an event like no other. To me, an Italian-American boy, this is an event that rivals the Superbowl, the World Cup, The World Series, and even Black Friday shopping. I look forward to this promotion more than most people should. The promotion, available now through October 10th, offers endless servings of pasta and 40+ pasta-sauce combinations, including two new sauces. At only $8.95 per guest, it’s no wonder Olive Garden was just awarded #1 Best Value for Full Service Chains by Zagat! The promotion also comes with the restaurant’s unlimited garden salad, or soup, and breadsticks.

This year, Olive Garden is introducing two new sauces as part of the promotion: Chianti Three Meat Sauce (left) and the Creamy Parmesan Portobello Sauce (right). Additionally, for the first time, Olive Garden included a menu add-on of unlimited Roasted Chicken to compliment the pasta dishes.

      About Olive Garden:

Olive Garden is the leading restaurant in the Italian dining segment with more than 700 restaurants, more than 85,000 employees and $3 billion in annual sales. Olive Garden is a part of the Darden family of restaurants (NYSE: DRI), the world’s largest company-owned and operated full-service restaurant company. For more information, visit Olive Garden’s Web site at www.olivegarden.com.

A national survey, fielded this month by Olive Garden and conducted by Kelton Research, found that traditional cuisine often wins when it comes to the American appetite. Almost three quarters (74%) of Americans who eat pasta prefer the traditional pasta sauces of meat, Alfredo or marinara. Nearly one-in-four (22%) pasta eaters consider spaghetti their favorite pasta.

To help launch this year’s Never Ending Pasta Bowl promotion, Olive Garden asked Americans to share their pasta passions. Additional survey highlights included:

      • Ninety-seven percent of Americans are pasta eaters.
      • Nearly three quarters (74%) of those who put sauce on their pasta would select meat sauce, Alfredo or marinara if forced to eat one for the rest of their lives.
      • Close to seven in ten (68%) Americans think Italian restaurants are the perfect place to bring the family.
      • When it comes to food, 35 percent of Americans associate Italian cuisine with generosity and abundance, more than any other type of cuisine.

For more information, guests can visit www.NeverEndingPastaBowl.com or www.Facebook.com/OliveGarden.

      Olive Garden’s Photo Contest:

First, visit your local Olive Garden with friends and family to enjoy the Never Ending Pasta Bowl – now until October 10th. While you’re there, take a photo of your Never Ending Pasta Bowl experience. Then, visit the “Contest” tab on Olive Garden’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/OliveGarden) to share your photo and a short story about your dining experience at Olive Garden.

All in all, my favorite was the Chianti Three Meat Sauce. You can’t go wrong with seasoned beef, Italian sausage, and pepperoni in a sauce that screams flavor. I know here in America we like our cheese so you have to top it off with a ton of freshly grated cheese. I usually pass on the salad and get the Zuppa Toscana soup and tear up my breadsticks and toss a little in the soup. After writing all of this I think I know where I will be going for dinner again tonight!

Each week 12 winners will be awarded a $25 gift card and will be featured in the photo gallery.
