Super Hero Squad Vol 3 Giveaway

The Super Hero Squad Show. This show is a riot. My kids do not sit down too often and actually watch tv without running off and getting into something else. I mean really. I am sitting here right now trying to write this post and I am so distracted in what is going on with this show. I think one cool thing is my 7 year old daughter loves this show. The comedy relief is what drives her stomach muscles to get a workout on every showing.

The Super Hero Squad Show: Quest For The Infinity Sword is Volume 3 is a must! Watch as Iron Man, Wolverine, the Hulk, the Silver Surfer, Thor, the Falcon and their friends faithfully — and hysterically — protect Super Hero City from the wild, weird and even wacky villainy of VillainVille’s most infamous baddies, led by the sinister Dr. Doom! Volume 3 features the final 13 episodes from Season One plus all-new bonus features!

Ryan’s Rating: 8 out of 10!!

Pros: Kids love it, iconic characters, and the X-men were in this volume!

Cons: Still this dang theme song will get so stuck in your head…and your kids.

Where’s Walrus Giveaway

I got this new book the other day called Where’s Walrus and was immediately confused why there weren’t any words in it. Really. I was seriously puzzled. I guess in a picture book you don’t really need words though. The kiddos loved this book and they loved it because we could create a different story just about every time we read it. We could tell the story from the Walrus’s point of view, the zoo keeper’s point of view, or even all of the people that get involved with the Walrus and pretend to see it from their point of view.

About the book

Bored with life at the zoo, an adventurous walrus escapes to the outside world. With the zookeeper in hot pursuit, Walrus cleverly tries on all sorts of hats to disguise himself. Will a yellow hardhat point to a new life as a construction worker? Or will a red swimming cap reveal his true talents? Follow the happy-go-lucky runaway as he hides amongst firefighters, businessmen, and even high-stepping dancers in this delightful wordless picture book.

About the author

Stephen Savage is the illustrator of the acclaimed New York Times bestselling picture book Polar Bear Night. His editorial illustrations have appeared in dozens of major newspapers and magazines including the New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Atlantic Monthly, The New Republic and The Wall Street Journal. When Stephen is not on the run, he lives in Brooklyn, New York, with his wife and daughter.

Giveaway

Three (3) winners will receive a copy of Where’s Walrus!

How to Enter

Tell me your favorite animal at the zoo.

The Logitech Alert

A handful of weeks ago my wife was at home and needed to call the dog inside who had been taking care of his business. She walked outside and noticed that an unfamiliar truck was in our neighbor’s driveway across the street. There was a person at their house that should have not been there taking things from their garage. She immediately ran back inside and watched a bit longer wondering if she should call the police or if this was a person who was a friend that had permission. Needless to say our other neighbor (who happens to be a good watchdog) busted up in the driveway and confronted the thief. The chase ensued and the cops caught up with them both and the crook was caught and justice served.

The thing that bothered us the most about this is “what if that was my garage?” or “what if our garage was a stepping stone to the inside of the house?” Other questions arose like what if our neighbors weren’t paying attention and someone came and robbed our house blind and no one ever got the chance to stop them? Our concerns were totally bothering me but I just did not know what to do about the situation. We did not want to install a huge security system that required off-site monitoring, false alarms, and not to mention a huge price tag.

Fortunately for me Logitech contacted me a couple of days after the incident and filled me in on the Logitech Alert system. The Logitech Alert is a complete home video security system that you can set up yourself. It comes with software that provides motion alerts and a live view from an internet-connected computer, your smartphone or Google TV systems. Plus, you can set it to send instant emails or texts when your camera detects motion. There are two camera types for different environments that you may need to keep an eye on.

The weatherproof outdoor security camera is equipped with night vision, so you can stay alert around the clock. And with high-quality, wide-angle HD picture, you can make out details such as faces and license plates. The indoor camera is also equipped with HD picture. It’s easily placed on any flat surface with the included stand, or pointed out a window with the suction cup. Now, you probably are wondering what sort of thing controls all of this. Each Logitech Alert Master System comes with Logitech Alert Commander, a powerful desktop application for your PC that lets you configure your video security system, watch live video, store video on your PC and review recorded video.

In addition to all that, Commander provides all sorts of sweet features—a few even the people who charge you an arm and a leg don’t have. Here’s what else you can do:

  • Control and configure your video security system
  • Manage up to six cameras
  • View live and recorded video in HD resolution
  • Set up motion zones for individual cameras
  • Create and manage e-mail and mobile phone motion alerts
  • Perform Digital Pan, Tilt and zoom
  • Back up video stored on your cameras to your PC
  • Manage account and security settings
  • Receive desktop notification of important events

Here is a shot from the living room camera. As you can see, this camera covers all of our living room and the kitchen. It also covers all three doors that lead in and out of my house. If someone was to enter in through any of these areas while we were away for the day or during a vacation the Logitech alert would notify me immediately of movement in the form of an email. I do also like this because when I get homesick during a long day at work it is really nice to pull up the app on my iPhone and check out what the kiddos are doing.

Ryan’s Rating: 9 out of 10!!

Pros:   Perfect piece of mind while away from your home.

Cons:  You have to use several outlets and there are some wires showing

Have you ever got home to see one of those little tags on your front door saying that the delivery people missed you and that they needed a signature for the package that the were bringing for you? Funny thing is that it has happened to me and I had been there the entire time homedude was slamming his knuckles against the door! I didn’t have a doorbell installed to chime loudly and let me know some goodies has arrived for me so I had to either wait till after the weekend to see if I would actually get to hear them the next time or have to drive down to the place and pick it up.

The MyChime by Honeywell allows you to customize your doorbell ringers, and also comes equipped with holiday tones and 24 other custom sounds. The wireless feature allows for very easy installation. Gnomeo & Juliet Giveaway

So, the wife got to go to LA to attend the red carpet opening of this movie and I must say I was a little jealous.  I think that this movie is going to hilar-i-ous.  I’ve checked out the trailer and I heard a ton of familiar voices in it and I am looking forward to see how they take the story that runs so parallel to Romeo and Juliet.  I hope you guys check out the trailer and go see it when it comes out on February 11th and make it a classic that your family will come to gnome and love!

The greatest love story ever told, starring…garden gnomes? In the upcoming “Gnomeo & Juliet,” Shakespeare’s revered tale gets a comical, off-the-wall makeover. Directed by Kelly Asbury (“Shrek 2”) and showcasing both classic and original songs by Elton John, the film features the voices of James McAvoy and Emily Blunt as Gnomeo and Juliet, who have as many obstacles to overcome as their quasi namesakes when they are caught up in a feud between neighbors. But with plastic pink flamingos and thrilling lawnmower races in the mix, can this young couple find lasting happiness?

Like I said from above, the amount of voice talent that this film has is pretty gnarly! Actors like James McAvoy, Emily Blunt, Michael Caine, Maggie Smith, Jason Statham, Patrick Stewart, Ashley Jensen, Stephen Merchant, Matt Lucas, Jim Cummings, Julie Walters, Richard Wilson, Ozzy Osbourne, Dolly Parton, Hulk Hogan have all provided a little bit of their vocal skills to make one phe-gnome-inal movie!

Giveaway

Two winners will receive A Gnomeo & Juliet prize pack that contains a youth-sized t-shirt, beanie and mini-notebook!

How to Enter

Tell me who you look forward to hearing from in the voice cast the most.
