Booby Trap’s La De Verde Glow in the Dark Tee Review

It is a proven fact that among all other things that women love clothes and men love…ZOMBIES!  You are in luck because now you can satisfy both of those natural necessities with Bobby Trap.  Now if you are like me and you like for your little ones to wear stylish, well made, and all around awesome clothing then you can’t pass up any of Booby Trap’s assortment of clothing. I received a La De Verde Glow in the Dark Tee from Booby Trap. This shirt is the object of radness! Rylan loves zombies and thinks that they are really cool. I know what you are thinking, most kids are scared of zombies or anything like it but, if you give your kid the ability to rise up against them by putting them on a shirt then you are effectively equipping them to conquer their fear of the future approaching zombie hordes!

About

Brilliant star-tested and parent-approved designs from the pen of Marco Rached adorn this season’s GLOW IN THE DARK, onesies, jumpers, rompers and tees that will show that your little bat or sweet cupping cake doesn’t have to look the fool just because they’ll grow out of it. You’ll never lose your child in a crowded playroom when they are wearing the screaming ink of BOOBY TRAP! Whether or not your child will make friends while wearing the art of BOOBY TRAP is still being studied in our rooftop laboratories, but make no mistake, junior will never be mistaken for a hive-minded bambino with this art across their midriff!

Ryan’s Rating

Pros:  It seems very durable and has been put through many washes and has kept it’s first day luster.  I love the way it catches peoples eye and they stare at me like I’m corrupting my child!

Cons:  The shirt seems very snug.  It was in his size, it just may be more athletic fitting and not loose fitting.

9 out of 10

This shirt will definitely turn some heads.  Don’t forget this shirt freakin’ glows in the dark!

Groundhog Daze

This year I decided we are going to celebrate Groundhog Day. There is no other day that is devoted entirely to rodents. So, why not take advantage of Groundhog Day to pay homage to ALL rodents of the world. I can see it all coming into play. A huge parade right in the heart of New York City, a new snack mix by Chex that features every known nut in the world, and a week long feature on The Discovery Channel called “Rodent Week”!

Ok, maybe some of that is a little premature. But, we can still have fun and honor our furry little friends in so many other ways. On February 2nd, the iconic rodent, Punxsutawney Phil, comes out of hiding and tells the world if there will be six more weeks of winter. This day can be filled with many other activities that revolve around rodents. After watching Phil look for his shadow, families can tune in to see the world’s most famous rodent, Mickey Mouse, on the Disney Channel, watch the movie Groundhog Day with Bill Murray, check out Disney’s The Great Mouse Detective or Pixar’s Rattatoullie. Don’t let the day go by without eating some sort of nuts, cheese, or anything else that rodents eat.

One way we are going to give some love to our four-legged friends is by playing Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel video game. We got it for the Wii and it is sort of a cross between a rhythm game and puzzle game. The kids really liked it. Even though it is a little advanced for my 3 year old boy, my 6 year old daughter loved it! Once she got the hang of it though, my son went right beside her and jammed and danced his little rear off!

Furry pop sensations Alvin and the Chipmunks are on a spectacular worldwide tour with their girl group rivals, The Chipettes. Watch the ‘Munks bring their mega star power to the show and make the crowds roar! Test your rhythm on stage with these adorable dancing trios as they sing their hits and swing their hips to prove they’re the greatest musical act in the world!

Features

• Enjoy playing as your favorite loveable, but mischievous, singing groups from the cartoon series and movies in a unique storyline
• Freedom to switch between unlocked locations with the associated music tracks which feature either The Chipmunks (Alvin, Simon, Theodore) or The Chipettes (Brittany, Jeannette, Eleanor), or a duet by both the bands, each with their own distinct personalities.
• Prove you have rhythm and timing in the main game and in 3 micro-games utilizing the Wii Remote and Nunchuk
• Features the Grammy Award and American Music Award winning songs from the Alvin and the Chipmunks library, each song’s difficulty based on such things as tempo and complexity
• Jet across the world and rock the house in 1 of 25 concert locations
• 2 global modes of difficulty, Normal and Expert, are available for replay and can be changed anytime during your game
• Multiplayer Party mode lets you play as your favorite Chipmunk or Chipette and compete locally with up to 3 friends
• Play your favorite unlocked songs while watching the music videos in Jukebox Mode
• Earn attendance records by filling stadiums with thousands of adoring fans

Make sure to enjoy your celebration of Grounhog Day and let me know what you did to honor our little fur-balls of fun!

Harry Potter Ultimate Editions Review

PotterTitle

Harry Potter.  That is all I have to say for images and recollections of a great character in a amazing world to come streaming into my mind.  If  you are like me and dig Harry Potter, then you know exactly what I mean.  When I first read the series, I always had imagined what the heck this world of magic and mystery would look like.  Well, after a couple of years, I found out that there was going to be a movie. I rushed out promptly and saw “Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone” and watched the ever-loving crap out of it!  The second movie of the series came out a bit later and I was geared up for “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” and I really wanted a pet phoenix after that(?!?).

I recently got the chance to see the new Harry Potter Ultimate Edition Bluray sets and man are they awesome!  Director Chris Columbus was an excellent choice to bring the whole Potterverse to us in a warm inviting environment that is really how most of us see it in the books.  The kids are young, impressionable, and very unclear of what to expect in their first year at Hogwarts.  So, it is just like we are going with them on their first time.  Don’t get me wrong I also dig the later movies as well.  I just feel like Chris Columbus did a awesome job of capturing those characters in those tender growing moments in their lives.

Each Ultimate Edition includes:

  • NEW 1-hour feature from Creating the World of Harry Potter, an 8-hour documentary series revealing the filmmaking magic behind all 7 years!
  • Theatrical and Extended Versions of the films
  • Over 2 hours of special features
  • Magical collectibles

Ryan’s Rating

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone: 7 out of 10

Grounbreaking, innovative, and scary as heck with Voldermort in the back of dude’s head! My kids near wet their undies when they saw that.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: 8 out of 10

Much more action oriented, a little darker, and you start to see a more devious side to the Dark Lord!

G-Force Review

G-Force BD art sm

I never owned any type of animal besides your standard cat and dog. I guess I was always very apprehensive about getting a gerbil, hamster, or any other rodent because they scared the pellets out of me. They all are just so small and unpredictable. This is exactly the case in Disney’s G-Force. These guys really tore up the screen in this action packed movie.

Upon reviewing G-force, I started to change my mind about the rodent class. The characters in this movie were very engaging and lovable. This movie appeals to a wide range of mammals at our house. My 1, 3, and 6 year old kids loved the movie’s characters and how it was a roller coaster ride till the very end.

Buckle up for thrilling edge-of-your seat action and laugh-out-loud fun in Disney’s family comedy adventure G-FORCE.  Just as the G-Force — an elite team of highly trained guinea pigs — is about to save the world, the F.B.I. shuts the secret unit down. But these next-generation action heroes — Darwin, loyal team leader; Blaster, weapons expert with attitude to spare; Juarez, drop-dead gorgeous martial arts diva; and tag-along Hurley — won’t be stopped. Armed with the latest in high-tech spy equipment, and with the F.B.I. on their tails, the fur flies as they race against the clock to save the world.  From the producer of the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN trilogy and NATIONAL TREASURE, and filled with high-octane action, daredevil stunts, cutting edge special effects and outrageous comedy, G-FORCE is fantastic fun for the whole family.

Mini Movie Synopsis

So the movie starts out with G-Fprce infiltrating an old geezers house and see if he is up to anything else besides makeing toasters and coffee makers. They don’t do that great of a job it seems and the FBI wants to shut them down. They go on the run, find themselves in a pet shop, get split up and try to get back together to save not only themselves but the entire Earth. Along the way they find a huge amount of supporting characters and find out who the mastermind pulling all of the strings is.

Ryan’s Rating

All in all I can say their is anything overly horrible or anything freaking amazing about the movie. It is a well rounded movie that made me smile and was never bored because of a slow moving plot. The movie took you through several different scenarios and did well at everything it attempted. The BD version was awesome looking and I thought that these were real animals at times. I never yawned and never wanted it to hurry up. No bad language, no suggested humor, and no offensive violence in the movie. Now the music in this film was really moving and really set the mood for several scenes. Now I mean the score of the film and not the hip-hop music that was in it…good stuff!

Overall Score 6 out of 10

Parrot Minikit Slim Review and Giveaway (Closed)

img_princ_parrot-minikit-slim

The Holiday season is here and in full effect. If you have promised someone something really cool for Christmas or want to pick something up with a little bit of holiday cash or gift cards after Christmas….have I got the thing for you! I consider myself somewhat of a geek. I like technology and try to get my hands on as much as I can. Now, what I really like is when I can get my hands on gadgets that are “hands free”.

I usually have a hour and a half commute to work and back during each day of the work week. Inevitably someone calls me while I am navigating myself home through the concrete jungle. I do not have the patience or want to take a chance in my safety juggling my phone in conversation on the way home. So, here comes Parrot to the rescue! I was sent the Parrot Minikit Slim to try out and use on my battle to and from work each day.

Here is a little about the Minikit Slim from the website:

The Parrot MINIKIT SLIM is a portable Bluetooth hands-free kit sporting a profiled, sleek design. Thanks to its space-saving design, it offers countless uses: in the car, in the office and at home. Its highly intuitive interface will automatically connect to your Bluetooth phone when nearby. Fixed to the sun visor or laid on a table, it adapts to every environment and can easily be carried around in your pocket.

Once you pair your Parrot to your phone, the Parrot Minikit Slim automatically does all of the work for you by updating its phonebook with the contacts on your mobile phone. The phonebook on the Minikit Slim is updated seamlessly whenever it connects. The entire phonebook is available at all times thanks to the voice synthesis of the names (Text-To-Speech function).

Ok, say you want to give a ring to one of your contacts in the phonebook? All you have to do is say, not scream, the name and the Minikit Slim recognizes it without any prior training and dials the number. If several numbers are associated with the same person, tell the kit which one you want to dial by saying mobile, work, home, and so on. So I say “Sweet-Honey-Pie-Baby”…Home…and it calls my wife immediately!

Ryan’s Rating

As always there are good and bad things about products. Here are some of the things that I found while using the Minikit Slim. The only real gripe I had was the charger to product distance. What I mean by this is that the Minikit Slim clips to your visor and it comes with a tightly coiled up charger cable that does not reach from my visor to my outlet. I just really didn’t like having to unclip it, then charge it, and then when I got back to my vehicle unplug it and clip it back up on the visor.

In this case though, the good heavily outweighs the bad. The coolest thing with me is that the Minikit Slim is totally designed to be the easiest thing in your vehicle to operate. I really love that when I approach and enter my car and have my Bluetooth earbud in, the Parrot automatically overrides what is in my ear and syncs up with my phone! I also enjoy the volume of the unit. I can hear it over road noise and the person on the other end never complains about not being able to hear me. I even clip the Parrot on my shoulder when I pump gas if I am in the middle of a conversation. Get it…Parrot…shoulder…AARGH matey!

MALICE Book Giveaway (Closed)

ABOUT THE BOOK

“TALL JAKE, TAKE ME AWAY…”
Everyone’s heard the rumors. Call on Tall Jake and he’ll take you to Malice, a world that exists inside a terrifying comic book. A place most kids never leave.

Seth and Kady think it’s all a silly myth. But then their friend disappears, and suddenly the rumors don’t seem so silly anymore…

Part thriller, part ground-breaking graphic novel … get into this story, and you may never get out!

Malice_70_71

I received a copy of the book and upon opening it i was stunned to see that the book had some sort of raised, almost 3-d effect to it.  I have since delved into it and I am pleasantly surprised in what I have found not only in the writing of the book, but also the “comic book look” that the novel incorporates into the story.

Lands’ End Wool Cotton Button Mock Sweater Review and Giveaway (Closed)

lands end logo

Once again my friends over at Lands’ End have entrusted me in telling you all about their Wool Cotton Button Mock Sweater. You see I love the cold weather. My wife hates the cold weather. She loves to hate me for loving the cold weather. I love my wife and now when I take off my jacket to give to her she won’t hate herself because I will have on a sweater that I love.

Here is a little about the jacket from the website:

When you put this sweater on don’t forget to thank Mother Nature. It’s created when fine Merino wool is blended with equal parts of cotton and nylon. The result is a hefty sweater that’s extra-warm, soft on your skin, stands up better to wear and tear. Has features you’ll like too. Behind the five-button placket is a half zip head opening for easy on/off, the mock-style neck gives you added coverage. Has rib-knit cuffs and bottom. 50% Merino wool/25% cotton/25% nylon. Dry clean. Imported.

lands end sweater

Ryan’s Rating

To boil everything down to give you my honest opinions…there are some good and some bad things about the sweater.   One thing that I had an issue with was the collar.  I didn’t know how to wear it! I didn’t know if I should lay it down smooth or get “all crunk” by “poppin da colla”.   But, I think if I knew the style that it was to be worn in, it would be really good. Speaking of the collar…there are several different ways to make sure your neck area is warm.  You can either zip or button the collar in whatever style you desire.

Even though this sweater is 50% wool, it didn’t make me itchy or uncomfortable at all. It really is a comfortable fit and doesn’t bunch up or make me look frumpy like some sweaters can do.  Also, it breathes really well while not letting me get cold or allow the elements get to me.

Overall Rating – 8 out of 10

Night At The Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian

night at the museum 2 header

I’m going to come right out and say that I did not see the first installment of this series. Not that I didn’t want to, but I believe our youngest was taking up all of our TV and film time when the first one came out. So when I was asked to review Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian I was happy to, in a way, see what I was missing. Thanks to Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment I was able to check out the Blu-ray Disc/DVD Combo Pack (Blu-ray, DVD and a Digital Copy) of the movie. I am a person that really enjoys the type of comedy that Ben Stiller brings to the screen. His sarcastic realism cracks me up every time I watch him interact with different characters, and believe me when I say there are tons of characters in this movie.

The boys and I watched this the other night while the ladies were out. From the beginning they were interested in this movie that had not only people dressed in crazy costumes, characters that could fit in the palm of their hands, and animals of all types running all throughout this huge warehouse. The movie does have a good storyline from what I can tell even though I didn’t see the first one. It would be hard to catch up with the overarching story if you are just tuning in on this movie. The cast of characters and the effects they used to create and differentiate all of them were very neat and had me asking “how’d they do that?”

About

History is larger than life — and twice as funny — in this monumental comedy sequel. Ben Stiller (Meet The Parents, There’s Something About Mary) stars as Larry Daley, a former night watchman at the Museum of Natural History, where the exhibits come alive after dark. But now Larry’s nocturnal friends are being retired to the archives of the Smithsonian Institution, luring him back for a hilarious, all-out battle against a cranky Egyptian Pharaoh who plans to take over the museum… and the world! From returning director Shawn Levy (Cheaper By The Dozen), the film also stars Amy Adams (Enchanted), Robin Williams (Good Will Hunting), Owen Wilson (Wedding Crashers), Hank Azaria (“The Simpsons”), Ricky Gervais (“The Office”), Steve Coogan (Tropic Thunder) and Jonah Hill (Super Bad).

My Mini-Synopsis of the Movie

Ben Stiller plays an ex-security guard named Larry now turned product inventor that gets called back to his old museum of employment because some of the exhibits are going to be sent to the Smithsonian and be packed away. Supposedly when the sun goes down and the exhibits are in the vicinity of this tablet thingy, they all come to life. So now Larry must go and try to rescue them. Larry finds the evil brother to another egyptian dude from his museum that wants to rule the world now. Stiller joins forces with Amelia Earhart who he finds hot.  They embark on trying to stop the pharoah dude, Al Capone, and other famous baddies while the entire Smithsonian wakes up.  Owen Wilson is his usual self.
