Birkenstock Boston Review and Giveaway (Closed)

Boston

For years and years I have heard of people using the name “Birkenstock“. When I was younger I thought that it was a follow-up concert to Woodstock. Little did I know, years later, I would be have the chance to really find out what Birkenstocks are and figure out why I had never worn them before. I was contacted by Birkenstock to have the opportunity to “walk a mile in their shoes this fall”. See, every step a man takes puts 500 pounds of pressure on his feet – that’s why all of their shoes mold over time to the wearer’s foot, offering individualized support.

I was sent the Boston Soft Footbed Clog in Mocha Suede. When I first got the pair of shoes, I admittedly was apprehensive about wearing a pair of clogs. Most guys when they hear the word clogs, shudder and think that only hippies parading around smelling like patchouli and eating turkey legs wear them. Well, I was wrong about everything. Upon putting them on, the shoes felt very roomy and comfortable. They looked good with shorts and even looked great with jeans.

The Birkenstock Soft Footbed features an extra layer of cushioning foam built into our legendary footbed.

A unique foam layer built from millions of microscopic air bubbles is inserted between the top layer suede footbed liner and the layers of cork and jute that make up the rest of the footbed.

This ensures a cushioned yet firm foundation for immediate comfort and full arch support, built on the most solid foundation in footwear.

Ryan’s Rating

I am someone who usually only wears flip-flops or some sort of athletic shoe.  For this reason when I wore the shoes during the first day I was not happy.  They were totally different than anything I had worn before and my feet were really miserable.  I believe this to be because my feet had to get used to the feel and the overall feeling of the shoe.  Since then, my feet and the shoes get along great now and it really feels like it is “my” shoe that is customized for me.  Another thing that would have normally make me hesitate on getting  a pair of shoes like this is the price.  The price of most Boston’s is around $130 and I never pay that much for shoes.  But, you get what you pay for and I believe that I will be making more purchases from Birkenstock in the future.

Overall Rating – a strong 7.5 out of 10

Definitely when I was pregnant with my daughter. I eventually had to go on bed rest, but she was 10 lbs 7 oz, and my feet have never been so sore! I had to elevate my legs/feet every night on doctor’s orders to keep the swelling down. Thanks for this giveaway — I love Birks!!

I was on vacation and it was out last night in town so we decided to go out for a nice dinner. I had packed quickly and had a pair of rockin’ shoes but they were medium width while I was a wide width. I wore them because they were the only shoes that went with my outfit but lesson learned. No matter how pretty a pair of shoes is, never purchase them unless you can comfortably wear them for hours on end. Can I hear an AMEN from the internet crowd?!?!?!?!

I went on a walking tour with a friend in Boston one summer. We seriously walked from one end of Boston to the other and in between visited museums and shops. Not only that we walked from downtown Boston to Cambridge. I was wearing sandals that pinched my toes. If I had know I was going to walk 5 hours straight I would’ve worn shoes that were more comfortable. Once we were in Cambridge I had to stop in a store and buy these ugly sandals that were on sale but they were much more comfortable and I didn’t have to walk in pain for the rest of the day before going back to our place.

We had a crazy night of dancing and WALKING in Las Vegas, because that’s what you do. Of course I was in 4 inch heels. Big mistake. I had blisters on the BOTTOMS of my feet. That had never happened before and never will again. Next time it’s all about comfort.

In the military, especially after completing mandatory 2-mile runs in my Army-issued boots, I would have loved to unwind with a pair of Birkenstock Boston Soft Footbed Clog shoes! 😉
