      Marc on December 22nd, 2009 12:18 pm

The first: Sorcerer’s Stone…because the first movie in the series sets the stage for all that follows. It is always fun to know the history and the foundation of the overall story before diving into any “episode” that follows the first. [It eliminates confusion and false conclusions.]

The Prisoner of Azkaban was my favorite. Two parts that I love: the posters of the moving picture of Sirius Black screaming like a crazy man and at the very end when harry is flying on his broom and the movie (freezes) just like that with harry on the broom. that freeze frame reminds me of how many movies in the 80’s use to end, (for example a freeze frame of of people hoping in the air). Classic!

I took my oldest to see the first in the series (he is now 15), but I don’t think we’ve seen any others since. So the first would be my favorite. He surprised me when he asked if we could rent the most recent, which we did. We both enjoyed it, so it may be time to catch up on the rest (and spend some QT together).

I think this was the best movie of the series because the young actors were so fresh and close to the true age of the characters. Because of the years between the subsequent movies, the actors aged considerably and are close to retirement but still playing postpubescent teenagers.

I liked the 5th movie, Order of the Phoenix, it made the series more ‘real life’ with subplots and tretchery… it was just more fun to watch than the others I think. We love them all, number 5 is just a little better 🙂 Thanks!
