Toy Story 3 Review
![toystory3dvd](http://daddydigest.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/toystory3dvd.jpg)
Among all of the great trilogies in the world such as The Godfather, Lord of the Rings, and (the original) Star Wars trilogy I must now put my stamp on the Toy Story trilogy. Oh Mylanta…I loved this movie. I feel like I have gotten so close to these characters and the road that they have traveled over the years. If this is the last movie ever that Buzz and Woody ever grace then it would be a very fitting end for them. By the way…I did cry twice during this movie. Can we say the rootin’ist tootin’ist tear jerker of the year?
Toy Story 3 welcomes Woody (voice of Tom Hanks), Buzz (voice of Tim Allen) and the whole gang back as Andy prepares to depart for college and his loyal toys find themselves in… day care! These untamed tots with their sticky little fingers do not play nice, so it’s all for one and one for all as plans for the great escape get underway. More than a few new faces—some plastic, some plush—join the adventure, including iconic swinging bachelor and Barbie’s counterpart Ken (voice of Michael Keaton), a thespian hedgehog named Mr. Pricklepants (voice of Timothy Dalton) and a pink, strawberry-scented teddy bear called Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear (voice of Ned Beatty). Directed by Lee Unkrich (co-director of Toy Story 2 and Finding Nemo), produced by Pixar veteran Darla K. Anderson (Cars, Monsters, Inc.) and written by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine), Toy Story 3 is a comical new adventure!

This movie really shows and exhibits very much of the same values that I try to instill in my children. Trust, teamwork, and even the strong sense of family. These characters have adapted to all sorts of obstacles over the years and to finally see everyone on the same page and working as a family was very heart-warming.

My Role During Halloween
Halloween. The one time of year where you can dress up and be anyone in the universe you want to be. What better excuse do you need to get excited about this remarkable day? Growing up I was always taught this. I was told it was a magical night where monsters ran wild, ninjas kicked butt, and vampires were scary and did not glitter.
When I first became a father I was leery about my role during Halloween. My friends and I all used to set up our own “yard of horrors” when we were younger. I soon realized once I saw the horror on my young daughters face in being frightened by daddy scaring people and acting so “not-daddy” to her. I soon hung up my mask and creepy demon fingers and traded them in for a pair of comfortable walking shoes and a little one’s hand. My role as a dad during Halloween has changed significantly in the past seven years. Now that I have three little ones that are so ready each year to go tromping through the neighborhood, I really see how important my role during this night has matured.
Here are some things that I have put into action over the years.
- Encourage you child to use their imagination to the fullest. If they want to fly down the street during trick or treating, talk with an accent all day, or even moan like the undead…let them.
- When it comes to selecting costumes for Halloween let them be whatever they want. As long as it is in good taste and holds still to your family values. My four year old has been Batman for the last three years and he loves it every year.
- Halloween candy is for Halloween. I let them indulge on some candy but after a few days it all goes bye bye. It is a night filled with candy and they shouldn’t have the desire to stock up. Keep it special.
- You already paid a ridiculous amount for those costumes. After the night is over just let them wear the costume whenever they want. Our kid’s costumes go in the dress up drawer and they come out and get put on frequently.
After all that I have experienced over the years I really feel it is important that my kids know that I want them to have fun on Halloween. I will be there when they need me to walk them up that sidewalk when it looks too dark and give them Pepto when they eat too much. I have always thought that it’s not just the act of walking from house to house that defines the night..it’s the walk and the time spent in between.

Halloween “Do’s” with Fantastic Sam’s
![frankenstein](http://daddydigest.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/frankenstein.jpg)
The great peeps over at Fantastic Sam’s have answered a couple of questions regarding Halloween Hair-do’s along with some general tips to totally add the finishing touch to your rockin’ costume. Fantastic Sams’ Pam Kelly, National Director of Technical Services, put together the following “hair raising” tricks and tips.
HALLOWEEN HAIR TIPS
The hair you wear with your Halloween costume can make or break the look! Here are a few tips and tricks to complete your look.
- To add color to your Halloween hair, make it a temporary color so you can easily remove it after the party’s over. Colored hairsprays and temporary colored hair gels are the easiest to remove. Simply brush out the hairstyle and shampoo with fantasticcleanse clarifying shampoo and follow with fantasticcondition moisturizing conditioner. If your hair is porous, you may need to shampoo two or three times!
- Get crazy with a crimping iron to add wild texture to your hair. This is a great look for the vampire craze that will definitely been seen at parties and in the streets during Halloween night. Just remember to use fantasticstyle thermal guard to protect your hair from the heat of the iron.
- Many Halloween hair styles require back combing the hair to achieve new heights. Spray the hair after backcombing with fantastic finish finishing spray to keep it where you want it. When you are ready to remove the backcombing, a brush with plastic bristles will be more gentle on the hair. Start at the ends and work your way to the base of the backcombing to remove.
- To create spikes in your hair, apply fantastic style styling cement on wet hair and then blow dry into place by brushing and directing the hair upward. This styling cement will defy gravity!
I hope this helps you out on trying to figure out a style to go with your look. Feel free to leave a comment for me telling what your craziest hairstyle has been for Halloween.
