“Hands off My Remote. Get your Mickey Mote!”

I have a nice home entertainment system. I love my gadgets and the kids see this on a day-to-day basis. What does a dad do when one of them wants to play with daddy’s toys? Am I supposed to just let their sticky hands surround my gifts of gadgets and geekery? Well, Disney has the answer for both of us in the form of the Mickey Mote.
No more more worries of sticky fingers or lost remotes. Get ready to introduce your child to his or her first remote control. This one-of-a-kind kid’s remote control (shaped like Mickey ears) will provide a whole new viewing experience for children. Kids can control the remote and interact with their favorite Disney characters. Multiple levels of play guarantee hours of fun as well as challenging adventures. For it’s debut Mickey Mote will be packaged with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey’s Number Roundup and Handy Manny: Big Construction Job.
The Mickey Mote works with any Disney Preschool DVD that includes Discovery Mode, the interactive “Watch & Play” feature on the DVD! All parents have to do is program the remote control – there’s an easy and quick set-up guide in each DVD- and select the Discovery Mode feature on the menu screen. Within minutes, kids will be easily responding to questions, throughout the story, about scenes they just watched (such as “What color is Goofy’s hat?”) by pressing one of four color-coded buttons on the device — a yellow star, green circle, orange triangle or blue square – to click in their responses. Discovery Mode features include two levels of play, which provides more challenging questions as the child grows.
Once families have purchased a Disney Preschool DVD that comes packaged with the Mickey Mote, they can continue to build their Disney Preschool libraries as the Mickey Mote works in compatibility with any Discovery Mode enhanced DVD. For example, kids can immediately use the remote with any of the following titles:
- Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Road Rally
- Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey’s Adventures in Wonderland
- Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey’s Choo Choo
- Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Minnie’s Bow-Tique
- Handy Manny: Manny’s Motorcycle Adventure
- Handy Manny: Manny’s Big Race
- Little Einsteins: Fire Truck Blast Off
- My Friends Tigger & Pooh: Super Duper Super Sleuths
- My Friends Tigger & Pooh: Bedtime With Pooh

Ryan’s Rating: 7 out of 10!!
Pros: Characters that the kiddos are very familiar with and already are in love with.
Cons: Somewhat lengthy to program the remote.

Atari’s Haunted House

Back in the day there was a game that took families by storm. It brought them together, got them a little frightened, and made them want more. I did not have the honor of playing this game in my youth because I came from a family that never even thought about having a game system in the house until I asked for one. Atari’s Haunted House became an instant classic when it hit the market in the 80′s. 30 years later, those kids are moms and dads, and able to share this classic game with the new generation of gamers they are raising.

Atari has given Haunted House a modern game-play update mixed with the proven fun factor and suspense of the original blockbuster game, and is now a new game for the Wii, Xbox Live and PC download. Jump into fast-paced action as you explore new environments and discover hidden secrets – but beware – danger lurks behind every corner! You’ll have to combat rats and bats, ghosts and gargoyles to survive the Haunted House and solve its mystery. Use powerful light sources to defeat enemies and reveal secret doors and hidden treasure.
The Old
This classic game has been remade for a new generation authentic replication of arcade gameplay, rich 3D environments, interactive objects, dynamic story-lines, and new characters. Haunted House empowers the user as the grandchild of the main character who got lost in the original game looking for the magical Urn 30 years ago. The user must navigate their way through new spooky environments, enemies with enhanced game play and new items regarding their grandfather’s whereabouts.
The New
Atari’s classic groundbreaking game is back with more chills, cool new unlock-ables and plenty of scary new enemies! Over thirty years have passed since your grandfather, Samuel Silverspring, disappeared without a trace. When a mysterious letter arrives claiming to have insight on your grandfather’s whereabouts, you are led back to the place he was last seen, Graves Mansion. As you dare to embark on this spooky adventure to uncover the truth about your grandfather, you are forced to face your fears in the dark depths of the Haunted House?
Ryan’s Rating: 7 out of 10!!
Pros: Fun, refreshing, and very fluid game-play that kept the kiddos staring at the screen.
Cons: I just wish the original was included as an extra bonus from the main menu.

SALONPAS Pain Relieving Patches (Closed)

The Holidays. What does that mean for you? I don’t mean traditions or things that you do with your family to ring in the season. I mean what brings the pain during this season? For me it’s trying to hurry up with my workday to try to get home earlier each day during this special time of year. For me it’s lugging bags and boxes out of stores to the car then from the car to strategic hiding places at home. For me it means stringing lights all throughout the yard and house. For me it’s not getting much sleep because of the excitement of Santa Claus.

Through all of these things the really take a toll on my body. I already have a fairly physical job and get sore quite frequently. I got a chance to try out SALONPAS pain relieving patches. SALONPAS pain relief and SALONPAS Arthritis are the only FDA-approved pain relieving patches available over-the-counter. Each soft, thin and stretchable patch contains anti-inflammatory medicine that provides relief of mild to moderate pain for up to 12 hours. And because you wear SALONPAS where it hurts (unlike oral medication), the active ingredients are absorbed through the skin and go directly to the pain site.
Uses
Temporarily relieves mild to moderate aches & pains of muscles & joints associated with:
- strains
- sprains
- simple backache
- arthritis
- bruises
I have tried these several times on my lower and mid back and they really do work. I repeat…they really do work for hours and hours. I also like that when you apply them they don’t have a huge medicinal smell. I don’t like to smell like I have been rolling around in a vat of mint and cough drops. I actually put one of these on on my way to work and it worked all day and I took it off 10 hours later when I got home.
Giveaway
Five (5) winners will receive: A SALONPAS gift pack that includes 5 SAlONPAS Patches!

Toy Story 3 Review

Among all of the great trilogies in the world such as The Godfather, Lord of the Rings, and (the original) Star Wars trilogy I must now put my stamp on the Toy Story trilogy. Oh Mylanta…I loved this movie. I feel like I have gotten so close to these characters and the road that they have traveled over the years. If this is the last movie ever that Buzz and Woody ever grace then it would be a very fitting end for them. By the way…I did cry twice during this movie. Can we say the rootin’ist tootin’ist tear jerker of the year?
Toy Story 3 welcomes Woody (voice of Tom Hanks), Buzz (voice of Tim Allen) and the whole gang back as Andy prepares to depart for college and his loyal toys find themselves in… day care! These untamed tots with their sticky little fingers do not play nice, so it’s all for one and one for all as plans for the great escape get underway. More than a few new faces—some plastic, some plush—join the adventure, including iconic swinging bachelor and Barbie’s counterpart Ken (voice of Michael Keaton), a thespian hedgehog named Mr. Pricklepants (voice of Timothy Dalton) and a pink, strawberry-scented teddy bear called Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear (voice of Ned Beatty). Directed by Lee Unkrich (co-director of Toy Story 2 and Finding Nemo), produced by Pixar veteran Darla K. Anderson (Cars, Monsters, Inc.) and written by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine), Toy Story 3 is a comical new adventure!

I thought I would also include some fun print-and-play activities! Search the words, connect-the-dots, spot the differences, and color your favorite Toy Story 3 characters by clicking here.

Meet the toy company that took a chance on manufacturing the now iconic toys and learn of their incredible success that began with a modest number of Woody and Buzz Lightyear toys 15 years ago.
- Making of Day & Night – The story behind the unique 2D/3D blended short.
This movie really shows and exhibits very much of the same values that I try to instill in my children. Trust, teamwork, and even the strong sense of family. These characters have adapted to all sorts of obstacles over the years and to finally see everyone on the same page and working as a family was very heart-warming.

Ryan’s Rating: 10 out of 10!!
Pros: As most of Pixar movies are great for kids and adults alike..this one shines and please the whole family.
Cons: Tissues for you snotting and crying during this movie are not included.
